This is an awesome pic! I love the flow of the red and the nice fades of the skin tones. I was wondering though if you could help me out and tell me what texture you used for the background because I am really having a hard time with texturing.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been awhile since I did the edit, but if I remember correctly there are 4 layers in the image. The layers are the sky, which I dup'ed used twice. The other is a brick wall and the last is parts of a vase. Generally, the best thing I can advise you on when it come to texturing is to experment with blending modes and layer opacity. You also need to use brush erasers to selectivly remove sections of different layers. With the sky layer that I dup'ed twice, I used the "overlay" blend mode on one and the "multiply" mode on the other. Before doing that I used "match color" to change the sky's color to the color of the models hair. Dup'ing this layer with the different modes created an intense color. The BG in the original image was white stone. I've found that a white BG works well for textures - almost like a green screen. As far as textures go, I'm always on the lookout for them - brick walls, paper, cracked paint are just a few of the things I look for. I've also soaked construction paper in coffee and rubbed it in the dirt which I then scanned in for a cool texture.

Hope this helps - have fun and thanks again.
